:: RADSAFE Responders
Radioactive sources are used for a wide variety of purposes in industry, medicine, research and teaching. Each year there are thousands of transport movements of radioactive materials associated with these activities.
Plans have been prepared by consignors and national authorities to deal effectively with transport radiation emergencies. RADSAFE has evolved from a number of previous such plans. It is based on the requirements of the emergency services and draws on the principles of the national Chemsafe plan. These and other contingency arrangements are complemented by the National Arrangements for Incidents involving Radioactivity (NAIR).
This course is intended for employees of RADSAFE member organisations who may respond, or support the response, to a RADSAFE incident. It is a RADSAFE course managed by the Health Protection Agency (HPA). Attendance on this course is restricted to employees of RADSAFE
